The Voices Review
Synopsis:A likable guy pursues his office crush with the help of his evil talking pets, but things turn sinister when she stands him up for a date.
The Voices (2015) is a dark comedy thriller movie that is 103 minutes long and was filmed in Studio Babelsberg, Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany. Director Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis (2007), Chicken with Plums (2011), The Gang of the Jotas (2012)) is new in the movie industry and shines. The movie contains sexual references, violence, gory, bad language, intense scenes and some good laughs.
The Voices is about a serial killer that was discovered by Jerry ( Ryan Reynolds - Green Lantern (2011), Buried (2010), The Proposal (2009), Smokin’ Aces (2006)), his dog Bosco and his cat Mr. Whiskers. Ryan Reynolds played many parts in this movie including the role of Jerry, voice of Mr. Whiskers (cat), voice of Bosco (dog), voice of Deer and the voice of Bunny Monkey. Jerry is a loveable factory worker who is nice to everyone and only wants to make friends that will go with him to karaoke night. He is a devoted pet lover that will do anything to keep his pets happy and… he also hears his pets voices. Jerry became a killer when he accidently killed his co-workers in the woods and started listening to his friends telling him that he is a killer underneath all his goodness. He soon became a maniac on a killing spree with lots of blood. Jerry started to question what he is doing and whether he is in control over his life anymore. His co-workers are becoming suspicious of Jerry and his extracurricular activities. What will happen to Jerry and all of the people he has been killing? Watch and see…
It is disturbing that I like Jerry who is a serial killer and enjoy seeing him. The Voices is either a film that you love or don’t and yes you do have to have a sense of humor to enjoy this dark horror comedy. The actors all did a phenomenal job with their parts, and I love to see more of Reynolds in upcoming movies. Heads up - watch the movie to the very ending, even after the credits, and you will have loads of laughter/fun with the final sequence.
