Fear Clinic Review
Synopsis:A doctor works to cure patients suffering from crippling phobias by placing them inside his invention which induces and controls hallucinations.
Fear Clinic (2014) is a low-budget American horror movie that is 95 minutes long and was filmed in Medina, Ohio, USA. Fear Clinic is based on the 2009 web series with the same name and was funded partially by crowdsourcing. Director Robert Hall (Superbad (2007), Pineapple Express (2008), Angel (1999), Secretary (2002)) did an okay job directing this movie but it far from his best. The movie contains nudity, sexual scenes, gore, violence, graphic images and a few scares.
Dr. Andover ( Robert Englund - Freddy vs. Jason (2003), A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)) is a psychiatrist that uses extreme measures/methods with his fear chamber in an effort to cure phobias. A group of friends were cured of their phobias a year ago after a masked man entered the diner they were hanging out in and started shooting everywhere. The friends are now facing their phobias again in a stronger way. Needless to say, they went to see Dr. Andover again to find out why their phobia returned and why they cannot get over it. Blake (Thomas Dekker - A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008), Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show (1997), Kaboom (2010)) was at the shoot out a year ago and is now a new patient of Dr. Andover because he became mute, brain damaged and wheelchair ridden after the shoot out a year ago. Dr. Andover agrees to help Blake - watch the movie to see what happens if you are okay with watching an average movie.
Fear Clinic is not an amazing film, but it is worth a watch on a rainy day with nothing else to do because it has a lot of interesting ideas and some pretty good effects. The gore effect were done gorgeously, and the actors all did a great job as well. CGI spiders were just plain awful as was the flickering lights that made it hard for me to see and hurt my eyes a little. The movie did have plot holes but not a whole lot of them so it was forgiven. There are some things that were not answered, and you will find yourself asking, what, what just happened and why in the world… I am sorry to say that you most likely will not get your answers if you have the same questions as me.
