Let Us Prey Review
Synopsis:Held in a remote police station, a mysterious stranger takes over the minds and souls of everyone inside.
Let Us Prey (2015) is a horror movie with some amazing twists that will make you wonder. Director Brian O’Malley did an awesome job directing his first full-length movie after directing two short movies. I am looking forward to seeing more movies being executed by Brian. The movie contains sexual content, gore, lots of blood, disturbing images, murders, graphic scenes, intense moments, thrills, suspense, and twists. Let Us Prey reminds me of a lot of good movies and I cannot help but think that many parts were borrowed from other movies, cliche? - yes. The good thing is that this movie is similar to other movies, but it had enough meat to stand alone and be recognized by itself.
Let Us Prey captured my attention from the opening scene and had not lost it throughout the movie. The movie is about everyone… everyone has a dark secret that they want no one to know. I love the outdoors/nature and to see the humongous waves on the gorgeous Scottish coastline was a treat for me. A stranger came out of the waves on the shoreline and was not the average person we see every day. He wants to steal the souls of criminals and others whose souls are evil. I liked that he was making the world a safer place but how does he know who is innocent and who is not? PC. Rachel Heggie (Pollyanna McIntosh - The Woman (2011), Exam (2009), Filth (2013)) is a new police officer who has a terrible past. She became a police officer because she does not want other people to go through what she had to endure. Her first arrest seemed like a big joke as she arrested a guy that ran over a man, and the man disappeared right after, so there was no victim.
Rachel is not liked by many of her fellow officers and also by her sergeant. The man that she saw got run over appeared in her police station but was arrested because - watch the movie. There is one person in the precinct that likes Rachel, and that is the prisoner in cell six. The prisoner in cell six knows every secret about everyone and their darkest secret. I recommend all horror fans to watch this movie whenever they can. It is a great movie to entertain horror fans with when they visit.
I did not get attached to any of the characters, and I am not sure why, they were all not likable and well… had dark secrets. The sets, special effects and scenery were all done beautifully. The actors did a good job with their roles, but I just could not connect with them. I enjoyed seeing the backstories of the characters and the evil they have done to land themselves in jail.
