Anarchy Parlor Info
Anarchy Parlor Review
Synopsis:A mysterious nomad known as the "Artist" practices a dark art form passed down through the generations.
Anarchy Parlor (2014) is a Lithuanian-English horror movie, originally titled Parlor (2014) and was filmed in Vilnius, Lithuania. First-time full-length movie directors and writers Devon Downs and Kenny Gage did an okay job executing their movie. This movie had a little too much graphic sexual adult scenes involving gore and torture for me. Fans of Hostel (2005) will love this film because it resembled the storyline of Hostel but was set in a different environment.
College student Amy (Tiffany DeMarco - Raze (2013), The Deedsons (2012), It’s Dark Here (2013)) is on a journey with her college friends trying to figure out what she will do with her life. They are traveling through Europe and stops in Lithuania to have some fun partying and drinking. Amy’s friend Brock (Ben Whalen - Forks & Lives (2014), Midnights with Adam (2013), The Coed and the Zombie Stoner (2014), Truth or Dare (2014)) met seductive Uta (Sara Fabel) and is heads over heel for her. Brock accepted Uta’s invitation to visit the tattoo parlor where she is an apprentice and adores her boss. Her boss is referred to as Artist ( Robert LaSardo - Léon: The Professional (1994), Death Race (2008), Waterworld (1995), Out for Justice (1991)) and is spoken highly of. Amy decides to go with Brock and Uta to "The Parlor" and might just get inked while they are there. Amy and Brock are a little too late when they realize that Uta and Artist have other evil plans for them, and they might not make it out of "The Parlor" alive.
Amy’s four friends that did not join them realizes that Amy and Brock did not return and started looking for them at various tattoo parlors. They finally found the right parlor, but Artist told them that Amy and Brock left that very same night they came to the tattoo parlor. Kelly (Claire Garvey - Northern Soul (2014), Booked Out (2012), To Trend on Twitter (2015)) realized that a tattoo she saw on Artist wall in the tattoo parlor is the same one Brock has on his arm. What will the friends do? Will their friends find them in time or will their friends be captured as well?
Here is one juicy detail/spoiler - Artist, removes Brock’s skin from his back so that he can use it as a canvas and Amy is forced to watch her friend being tortured while alive. They are being kept as prisoners in the parlor basement that is a dungeon.
Anarchy Parlor got under my skin in so many ways, but I will leave it at that, and you will see what I mean if you watch the movie. This film got the best of me, and I was squeamish for most of the movie. Horror fans with a weak stomach should see this movie on an empty stomach, the scenes were nicely done but made my skin crawl. Details were paid attention to in this movie, and it was executed well. The CGI effects were noticeable but was needed. The cinematography was excellent as well as the actors performances.
