Synopsis:It's been 5 years since the Re-Animates outbreak that wiped out 85% of the world's population. Within a few cities, the Re-Animates have been segregated into "zones" and are policed by the R-Division of the QUASI S.W.A.T. Unit.
Re-kill (2015) is an American science fiction action horror movie that had an estimated budget of $9,500,000. Valeri Milev (Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (2014), Code Red (2013), Pechalbata (2001)) did a horrible job directing this movie with major plot holes. There were a few exciting action scenes that I enjoyed, but the movie was overall uneven with a weak screenplay. The zombie attacks and shootouts were good but were inevitably done too quickly where if you glance away from the screen for a few seconds, then you will surely miss it. There are cheesy moments in the movie, but the action makes up for that but could not help other major problems in the film.
A deadly outbreak wiped out 85% of the world’s population about five years ago. The humans were turned into Re-Ans, which are zombies that feed off of the living flesh. The majority of the cities are uninhabitable, but the very few that survivors are living in are guarded. The Re-Ans are contained in zones and are continuously patrolled by police by R-Division. The R-Division S.W.A.T teams are trained to take out the zombies so that they can prevent the extinction of the human race. The post-apocalyptic world has a television show, Re-Kill, which is the most popular guerrilla style news show. Re-Kill follows the R-Division units and documents their kills and attempts to keep their divisions safe. It did not take long for us to see a Re-Kill field reporter killed during an unsuspecting Re-Ans attack. Jimmy is the new field reporter for Re-Kill. Jimmy comes close to danger many times as he records soldiers coming close to death several times. The team investigates a truck that may have Re-Ans in it, but they were not expecting it to be overloaded with zombies. The crew soon learn that the zombies/Re-Ans were expecting to be used in an experiment known as “The Judas Project.” Watch this cheesy movie if you are the least bit curious of what happens next.
The last fifteen minutes of the film was a spectacular feast but could not make up for the rest of the movie being an awry watch. The pacing of the film needs major work as it needs to be more focused with a tighter pace. I do not particularly like films with a mix of mockumentary, narrative, and reality television/found footage shows which is what this movie is. I must admit I was rooting for the first R-D unit to survive the massive zombie sweep. There is numerous huge explosions, bullets everywhere and zombie gore. I gave this movie a three because I enjoyed the action scenes and because of the last fifteen minutes of the film.
