Cowboys vs Dinosaurs Review
Synopsis:After an accidental explosion at a local mine, dinosaurs emerge from the rubble to terrorize a small western town. Now, a group of gunslingers must defend their home if anyone is going to survive in a battle of cowboys versus dinosaurs.
Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs (2015) is an American science fiction action film produced and directed by Ari Novak (Live Free or Die Hard (2007), Able Danger (2008), Oy Vey! (2007)) whose inexperience shows in his first full-length film. Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs was a movie that I was anticipating to see and was disturbed by how awful it was after viewing it. Writers Anthony Fankhauser (Grizzly Flats (2011)) and Rafael Jordan (Lost Colony: The Legend of Roanoke (2007), True Bloodthirst (2012), Hammer of the Gods (2009)) must have borrowed a few terrible ideas from the Tremors franchise in the worst way possible. Anyone who dares to see this movie after reading this review will know what I am talking about regarding this film being a cliche to Tremors. I will summarize the movie a bit for those of you who have not seen any movies from the Tremor franchise. A local mine, as usual, has an accident and reports animal attacks. The boss, Marcus (Vernon Wells - Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), Commando (1985), Innerspace (1987), Weird Science (1985)) disregards all warning and proceed as usual. He does not care if anyone is trapped in the mine or if anyone in the town gets harmed as long as he is safe. So instead of little creatures like that in the Tremors franchise, we get Dinosaurs in this film. Needless to say, radio signals down and the people in the town will stay and fight to save their lives and protect their town.
The actors did a good job with their roles, but it was not good enough to save the terrible screenplay. Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs is not what I expect it to be and was not executed well, and that is due to a cheesy cliche screenplay. Plus - I enjoyed the CGI as it was good, great acting, cheesy funny moments, entertaining if you watch this in a drunken state of mind where you do not take the storyline seriously at all and just go with the flow. Negatives - awful dialogue, ludicrous plot, major goofs, plot holes, and appears as though much effort was not put into this film.
