Lazer Team Review

Four losers are thrust into the position of saving the world when they stumble upon a UFO crash site and become genetically equipped to the battle suit on board.

Lazer Team (2015) is an American sci-fi action-comedy film that was mostly funded through an Indiegogo campaign that raised over $2.4 million in one month. Co-writer Matt Hullum (Red vs. Blue: Reconstruction (2008), Red vs. Blue: Season 10 (2012), The Best Red vs. Blue. Ever. Of All Time (2012)) did a wonderful job producing and directing Lazer Team at Spiderwood Studios, Austin, Texas, USA. Lazer Team is rated PG-13 because it contains sexual content/references, bad language, violence, and teenagers partying and smoking. It is hard to imagine that it can possibly be real - that maybe there is an alien world out there that is protecting us, and we do not even know it, hmmm, maybe, could it possibly be?

Lazer Team revolves around four people in a small town that discovers an alien crash site that houses a battle suit resulting in the four people soon realizing that the planets safety lies in their hands. The four of them screwed up and eventually break the suit that divided into four pieces that attached itself to the four of them. The alien equipment somehow is genetically bound to them, so they decide to work together with the government whom they have been running from to save humanity. Each alien device/piece is meant for one person, so the team has to train to fight the fight of their lives against their enemy. It was a really great movie that showed us how an alien race leaves an alien power armor battle suit for the humans to use. A little information about the characters.

Lazer Team members

  • - Hagan (Burnie Burns - Red vs. Blue: Reconstruction (2008), Red vs. Blue: Season 10 (2012), Red vs. Blue Season 9 (2011)) wears the left arm of the suit that he can use to generate an energy shield.
  • - Woody (Gavin Free - Red vs. Blue: Reconstruction (2008), Hot Fuzz (2007), Rooster Teeth: Best of RT Shorts and Animated Adventures (2013)) wears the helmet from the suit that heightens his intelligence and grants him X-ray vision.
  • - Zach (Michael Jones - Immersion (2010), Rwby (2012), Red vs. Blue: Season 10 (2012)) wears the right arm of the suit that is an energy cannon.
  • - Herman (Colton Dunn - Key and Peele (2012), MADtv (1995), The Arsenio Hall Show (2013), Boner Boyz! (2008)) wears the boots of the suit that gives him superhuman speed.

Lazer Team was an entertaining joyride that I will watch again with friends and guests. It excelled many of my expectations, and I will be looking out for more movies from Matt Hullman. The special effects were top notch as well as the acting, editing, and sound. The cinematographer and makeup department did an awesome adding their touches to this phenomenal movie. There was action, comedy, suspense, thrills, excitement, tension, great dialogue, and violence that made the movie into something that I will watch again.
