Grandpa's Psycho Review
Synopsis:A dark and gritty psychological thriller that explores one small town man's need to purify the world of sin...
Grandpa’s Psycho (2015) is an American psychological thriller that does not contain comedy but instead many disturbing images. Director and writer Danny LeGare (Even If (2007), Marco Polo Boys (2011), What’s That Make Me? (2008)) did an incredible job making this film into something original and deeply twisted. I enjoyed this movie and its originality but dislike the flashbacks. Grandpa’s Psycho explores the world of one lonely man that is determined to clean his small town of females that are sinners or not godly. The pace was the film done nicely as tension filled the movie from beginning to ending. The actors did a fantastic job with their roles as well as the cinematographer, editor, producer, and special effects department.
Murry (Gunther Grambo - Common Misconception (2013)) has been slowly falling apart since his wife died. He has not been the same and has moved to a secluded cabin by the lake, stopped working at his garage and started to pray a lot. He also refrains from spending too much time with his daughter Lisa (Tracey Kane) who is a single mom. His only happiness comes from Lisa’s daughter Megan (Alexandra Kane) who he babysits. A lot of people is worried that Murry needs help and does not know how to cope with his wife death. He tells everyone that he is not alone because Murry has his girls but they do not know is that he was telling them the truth. You see, Murry is not who they think he is, he often has a gorgeous naked female chained to the floor.
Murry’s most recent victim is Kelly (Jessica Moore - #Lucky Number (2015), Other Plans (2014), Conan (2010)) who he saw/heard cursing God and using bad language while shouting at her boyfriend in front of Megan. Murry then took it upon himself to sabotage her vehicle so that it will break down so he can then kidnap her and hopefully when he is done with her; she will be on the right path, and her soul will be saved. Murry thinks that the Lord gives him permission to do whatever it takes to save his victim’s soul, even torturing them. Murry’s medieval and brutal cleansing of the females are horrific at times and very disturbing. I was happy that the director showed us Murry’s secrets that lead to his psychotic behaviour.
