Fright Night 2 Review

By day Gerri Dandridge is a sexy professor, but by night she transforms into a real-life vampire with an unquenchable thirst for human blood...

Fright Night 2 (2013) is an American thriller horror comedy that was a direct-to-video sequel but in my opinion, it was more like a remake of Fright Night (2011). Director Eduardo Rodriguez (El Gringo (2012), Daughter (2002), Stash House (2012)) filmed the movie from November-December 2012 in several locations in Romania. Everyone on set was freezing as the weather had temperatures around -15 degrees below Fahrenheit leading to a variety of problems. Imagine the temperature and how the cast and crew felt as they were shivering while filming. The movie contains nudity, vampires, sexual reference, violence, bad language, comedy, and suspense.

Charley Brewster (Will Payne - The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box (2013), Isaac (2008), Elfie Hopkins: Cannibal Hunter (2012)), Ed Bates and Amy Peterson are exchange students in Romania. Amy (Sacha Parkinson - Coronation Street (1960), A Boy Called Dad (2009), Mr. Selfridge (2013)) believes that Charley is cheating on her, and he tries to reconcile with her. Charley saw a female, Gerri Dandridge (Jaime Murray - The Deaths of Ian Stone (2007), Defiance (2013), Hustle (2004)) biting another woman across the street from him on his first night in Romania. Charley later learns that Gerri is his college professor and also did not take long for him to see her seducing a student. Charley became suspicious of Gerri after that student she was seducing went missing, and he saw her loading something huge into her trunk. He sneaked into her apartment to find ritual artifacts and later discovered what she does with the humans.

The police think Charley is pulling a prank on them as he reported what he had saw and was dismissed. The only person who believes him is Ed (Chris Waller - Inbred (2011), Vote (2014), The Sleeping Room (2014)) who tells him that Gerri is a powerful vampire named Elisabeth Bathory. The duo told Peter Vincent (Sean Power - Lead Balloon (2006), Cowboys & Angels (2003), Twisted Sheets (1997)) who is the host of a paranormal investigation show called Fright Night about Gerri. Peter agreed to help the boys for a price but will he succeed in helping them. I enjoyed the movie and have seen it twice although there was a lot of mishaps, plot holes, not so good acting and not the most dynamic special effects. The storyline was good and enjoyable for a simple watch without reading too much into the movie. Overall, horror fans should watch the film when they run out of choices.
