Don't Breathe Review
Synopsis:Hoping to walk away with a massive fortune, a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn't as helpless as he seems.
Don’t Breathe (2016) is an American horror thriller that is also known as A Man in the Dark (2016) and was filmed in Stern Film Studio, Pomaz, Hungary, and Detroit, Michigan, USA. Director and co-writer Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead (2013), Panic Attack! (2009), El cojonudo (2005)) did a fantastic job executing his second full-length movie. Don’t Breathe is a harrowing film that definitely put the spooks in me and made me think about why we should never enter some houses. The movie is filled with terrifying moments, and just when you think that the nightmares the characters are facing are over, another nightmare jumps right out making this film a delightful brutal, twisted film that should not be missed.
Don’t Breathe revolves around Rocky ( Jane Levy - Evil Dead (2013), Suburgatory (2011), Fun Size (2012), About Alex (2014)), Money and Alex, who are friends and thieves. Rocky, Money (Daniel Zovatto - It Follows (2014), Laggies (2014), Beneath (2013), Innocence (2014)) and Alex rob wealthy families homes in Detroit because of the economic crisis they face. Alex ( Dylan Minnette - Prisoners (2013), Goosebumps (2015), Let Me In (2010), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014)) and his friends started off small. They began robbing families of their clothes and electronics but felt that they were not making enough money and decide to rob a house belonging to a blind Iraq War veteran. The trio believes that the Iraq vet ( Stephen Lang - Avatar (2009), Conan the Barbarian (2011), The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009), Gettysburg (1993)) has an enormous amount of money on his property. They thought that it would be a breeze stealing the money from the blind man, but they were so wrong that they regretted the moment the thought of robbing the old man crossed their minds.
Don’t Breathe was a genuine fun, entertaining experience and crazy to see what the trio had to endure for their crime. Everyone gave strong performances, and their acting could not have been better as it was believable and realistic. Pedro Luque‘s cinematography and the sound design were two added benefits of making this movie a magnificent watch. The screenplay was also superbly done well, and the director did a masterful job executing the screenplay with no plot holes. The movie was overall compelling and just reeled me in scene after scene as the adventure escalates into a dangerous playing field. Watch this film at your earliest convenience.
