Suicide Squad Review

A secret government agency recruits some of the most dangerous incarcerated super-villains to form a defensive task force. Their first mission: save the world from the apocalypse.

Suicide Squad (2016) is a 123-minute American superhero comedy action-adventure film that is the third installment in the DC Extended Universe and is based on the DC Comics anti-hero team Suicide Squad. Director and writer David Ayer (Fury (2014), End of Watch (2012), Training Day (2001), The Fast and the Furious (2001)) surprised the heck out of me with Suicide Squad because I did not expect much. The movie was an amazingly awesome film that delivered everything I wanted and more as it was filled with surprises, suspense, and twist. The trailers just prepared us for the terrific adventure that awaits us and did not give anything away.

There was one prisoner that moviegoers will be blown away by as this prisoner was a surprise and is not a person to be reckoned with. I applaud the film crew for giving us a solid story, characters, performances, sets, sound, and thrills. All of the characters were developed well and introduced properly to the film resulting in its audience to feel attached to most of the characters. There was a lot of characters in this movie, but they were all balanced nicely. Suicide Squad is by far one of the most emotional comic book movies that I have ever seen.

Suicide Squad revolves around intelligence operative Amanda Waller who works for a secret government agency recruiting a team of imprisoned criminals to carry out dangerous black ops missions after the aftermath of Superman’s death. She offers the prisoners mercy/clemency as a reward for saving the world from the threat they face but if the prisoners decide to rebel or escape then the small bomb implanted in their neck will detonate. There is so much more that I want to write about this movie, but fans will not be happy so I will stop here and let everyone enjoy the film and all it has to offer.

I was not glad to see The Joker having only about ten minutes of screen time throughout the movie - there was so much more to explore about him that we did not see. The visuals effects/designs were spectacular which makes it a film that is recommended to see in the movie theaters on the big screen if you can. This movie is a hit or miss, and it was a hit for me as I enjoyed the comedy aspect of the film along with so many other elements. Suicide Squad had faults and was not perfect, but it was an incredibly fun, unique/original, action-packed movie that was different.
