Bed of the Dead (2016) Review
Bed of the Dead (2016) is a 1h 28-min Canadian horror movie that was shot in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. First-time full-length director and co-writer Jeff Maher did a fantastic job executing this Bed of the Dead which revolves around twentysomething years old who are trapped on a bed because they will meet a gruesome death if they leave the bed. Bed of Dead is not for weak stomach horror fans and is by no means intended to be a family movie because it contains sexual scenes.
The four friends are out and about celebrating one of their birthdays by visiting a sex dungeon and renting room #18 for; well we know what. The gang is in for an adventurous night as the bed in room 18 has been cursed for centuries. The bed will give whoever goes on it a gory outcome. Detective Virgil (Colin Price - Late Night Double Feature (2015), Things Have Changed Since Kindergarten (2016), Father (2016)) is an alcoholic who is not the man he used to be because of tragedies he had encountered. It was interesting to see Virgil’s story, and it was a nice touch to the movie that was much needed. Back to the four friends, they are all on the bed and cannot get off the bed unless they want to meet devastating life threatening happenings. The four friends have to find quickly out how to make the bed stop before it starts killing them one by one.
I was not interested in this movie at first until I saw them in the room on the bed and then Bed of the Dead received my undivided attention as I wanted to see who will die first. I gave this movie a five because it was entertaining but the actors gave us cheap, cheesy performances and the plot was not quite up to standards. I wonder if this film will affect anyone from buying a new mattress/bed, hmmm. The twist that was thrown in was not bad, but the blood/gore was spectacular. I would recommend horror fans to give Bed of the Dead a try.
