Warlock Plot Synopsis:

In Boston of 1691, a warlock is sentenced to death, but escapes magically into the future (our present), followed doggedly by the witch hunter. There he is searching for the three parts of the Devil's Bible, trailed by the witch hunter and the woman whose house he landed in. They must stop him, as the book contains the true name of God, which he can use to un-create the world.

Warlock (1989) Review

Steve Miner directed Warlock (1989) was one of the very first horror movies I remember being really excited to watch after seeing the trailer. Warlock had an estimated movie budget of $7 million and grossed a little over $9 million at the US box office.

Warlock features Julian Sands as "Warlock" with the witch hunter Giles Redferne (Richard E. Grant) on his pursuit. The Warlock escapes from the 17th century to the 20th century with the witch hunter still on his trail. In the future, Kassandra (Lori Singer) gets tangled up in a curse the Warlock placed on her and must help the witch hunter defeat the Warlock to free her from the curse.

Julian Sands did an amazing job of being sinister and so hateable. I would have you know; this is not one of Lori Singer’s best performances in my opinion. Warlock received award nominations for special effects, best actor, and best screenplay. One award won and seven award nominations in total. To me, at the time, the movie trailer was excellent. The special effects do not hold up, and some of the cast acting did not resonate well.
