Batman Begins Review

Synopsis:

After training with his mentor, Batman begins his fight to free crime-ridden Gotham City from the corruption that Scarecrow and the League of Shadows have cast upon it.

Christopher Nolan directed Batman Begins (2005) had an estimated movie budget of $150 million. Batman Begins raked in $206.8 million and was nominated for an Oscar Award. Batman Begins also won 14 movie awards and 71 movie award nominations.

Batman Begins under Christopher Nolan’s direction, and Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne / Batman rebooted the entire Batman movie franchise. Batman is taken back to his gritty roots, and this film focuses on the training and preparation of the Dark Knight. Batman saves the city from Scarecrow ( Cillian Murphy) and League of Shadows.

Batman Begins was a welcome return to the more brutal and grittier world of Gotham City. I cannot say that I agree with most of the casting choices, but for the most part, the acting performances were terrific. I felt the screenplay could have been a little tighter at times. I remember the scenes where Batman was first starting out and ran into some mishaps, the dog scene was funny. Scenes like that brought the Legendary Batman back to his beginnings where Batman was not always The World’s Greatest Detective.

If you are like me and remember Tim Burton‘s Batman (1989) with Michael Keaton, this is a great return to those glory days. You do not want to miss this film as it serves the purpose of setting up the world and characters beautifully. FYI, The Dark Knight (2008) was the best in the series for me.
