Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer Review
Synopsis:The Fantastic Four learn that they aren't the only super-powered beings in the universe when they square off against the powerful Silver Surfer and the planet-eating Galactus.
Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) is a 1h 32-minute USA/Germany/UK thriller sci-fi action-adventure film that was based on Marvel Comic‘s Fantastic Four comic book series and a sequel to the Fantastic Four (2005) film. It is also known as Fantastic Four 2 (2007) and grossed over $289 million at the box office with a $130 million budget. Director Tim Story (Fantastic Four (2005), Ride Along (2014), Think Like a Man (2012)) did an excellent job executing this tension fill thrilling movie. The film contains scenes that may be frightening to younger viewers.
Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd - Fantastic Four (2005), Titanic (1997), King Arthur (2004)) and Sue Storm was preparing for their wedding when a silver object enters the Earth’s atmosphere. The city encounters a blackout as a result of the objects electromagnetic pulses. Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Chris Evans - The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016)) discovers that the object is a silver humanoid on a flying surfboard which is later known as the Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer drags Johnny into the upper atmosphere where he suffocates and then drops him to meet his death, but Johnny flew at the last moment and survived.
Sue/Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba - Sin City (2005), Fantastic Four (2005), Valentine’s Day (2010)) and Johnny finds out that their powers were switched merely by touching each other. Reed traces the Silver Surfers cosmic energy only to discover that all of the planets that the Surfer visited no longer exist, he destroyed the planets. Skip Forward - Victor Von Doom is set free from being encased in metal for years after the Surfer’s movements around the globe bring him past Latveria resulting in the cosmic energy to affect Victor. The Fantastic Four soon found themselves working with Victor Von Doom again. Will Von Doom and the Fantastic Four be able to stop the Silver Surfer?
Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer had amazing special FX, excellent PG rating story for families to enjoy together and minimal violence. All of the actors did a phenomenal job with their respective roles. The action sequences were well thought out as it was glorious when they occur, which is not much. I enjoyed seeing the Fantastic Four superpowers and how they transform as the graphics were spectacular. This is a movie that I was not expecting to be anything significant and worthy of talking about, but I was wrong once again. With that said, this movie does not excel above its previous installment.
