Critters 4 - They’re Invading Your Space (1992) is an American comedy science fiction horror movie that is the last of the Critters series. It does not take place on Earth like the three previous movies but takes place in space instead. Director and co-writer Rupert Harvey (A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), The Blob (1988), Pump Up the Volume (1990)) failed at executing this movie as well. The movie was filmed in Los Angeles, California, USA and contains more violence than the previous three movies. It also contains brief nudity, sexual references, bad language, gore and suspense. It was creepy for me to see the two Critters entering the man’s throat and eating him from the inside to the outside.
Critters 4 is a continuation of Critters 3 and did not do any better than Critters 3. Counselor Tetra / Ug (Terrence Mann - Critters (1986), Critters 2 (1988), All My Children (1970)) told Charlie McFadden (Don Keith Opper - Critters 4 (1992), Slam Dance Slam Dance (1987), Critters (1986)) to put the last two remaining eggs in a preservation capsule that will go to space. Charlie accidentally locked himself inside and was sent to space unknowingly to others. Captain Rick (Anders Hove - Nymphomaniac: Vol. I (2013), General Hospital (1963), Loving (1983)) and his team on a salvage ship found Charlies pod in the year 2015. Captain Rick saw their logo on Charlies pod and reported it to Counselor Tetra of the Terracorp Council. Rick freed Charlie by disobeying orders and opened the pod early. He also freed 2 Critters at the same time that attacked and killed Rick.
Charlie finds out from the crew that it is not 1992, but instead the year 2015 and everyone he knew on Earth is dead. Charlie and Ethan (Paul Whitthorne - Prey of the Chameleon (1992), The Flash (1990), Shannon’s Deal (1990)) almost died in a waste disposal unit. Bernie (Eric DaRe - Starship Troopers (1997), Twin Peaks (1990), Bundy (2002)) had rescued them before it was too late. An adult Critter killed Ethan after he found a keycard in an old labcoat and strayed away from the group. Charlie deactivated the ship by shooting at a Critter with an old antique gun.
Critters 4 was definitely a waste of time because it had nothing good to offer. It seems so repetitive about the Critters killing people but just in different towns or planet. Sometimes a series is not worth continuing because it brings down the really good movies in the series. I do not recommend this movie. The acting was horrible; setting was dreary, Critters were shabby and the movie bombed overall.
