Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Plot Synopsis:

In the Victorian London, the barber Benjamin Barker is married to the gorgeous Lucy and they have a lovely child, Johanna. The beauty of Lucy attracts the attention of the corrupt Judge Turpin, who falsely accuses the barber of a crime that he did not commit and abuses Lucy later after gaining custody of her. After fifteen years in exile, Benjamin returns to London under the new identity of Sweeney Todd, seeking revenge against Turpin. He meets the widow Mrs. Lovett who is the owner of a meat pie shop who tells him that Lucy swallowed arsenic many years ago, and Turpin assigned himself tutor of Johanna. He opens a barber shop above her store, initiating a crime rampage against those who made him suffer and lose his beloved family.

Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) Review

Looking for a musical horror movie then Sweeney Todd - The Demon of Fleet Street (2007) is an excellent pick. Director Tim Burton had fun with this tale of horror and revenge. Sweeney Todd - The Demon of Fleet Street had an estimated budget of $50 million and brought in $52.8 million at the box office. Currently, this movie is available for streaming on Netflix.

Johnny Depp stars as Benjamin Barker aka Sweeney Todd, a man on a mission of revenge for his family being taken by the evil Judge Turpin, played wonderfully by the late Alan Rickman. Helena Bonham Carter plays Mrs. Lovett who helps Sweeney Todd exact his bitter revenge on all those who helped to commit the heinous crime. Together, they create "meat pies" and sell them back to the people of the town for consumption.

Sweeney Todd - The Demon of Fleet Street is unique in the amount of gore and horror that is squeezed into the film without noticing how violent it is right away. The starving people gorging themselves on the "meat pies" happily enjoy every bite. The songs were enjoyable, but I did find myself looking at the time a few times while watching the film.

After watching the film, I found myself shocked by how Tim Burton was able to bring it all together in an enjoyable movie experience. I rewatch this film every few years.
