Bad Taste (1987) Review
Peter Jackson wrote and directed Bad Taste (1987) is a low budget horror movie filmed for NZD 200,000. Bad Taste won the Audience Award at the Fantafestival 1989 and nominated for the International Fantasy Film Award at the Fantasporto 1990.
Bad Taste is about a bunch of aliens who descend onto Earth. The aliens replace everyone in a small town. Their goal is to create an intergalactic fast food chain with humans on the menu, apparently, human flesh is yummy to aliens.
Long before Lord Of The Rings, Peter Jackson wrote and directed a low budget horror movie over the course of four years, working mainly on the weekends he had off from his newspaper job. In 1987 Bad Taste was released, an alien invading splatterfest with everything from brain munching to vomit drinking, starring Jackson himself in two roles. While visually revolting at times, Bad Taste is also funny in an Evil Dead sort of way. A must see for any "wet" horror fan.
Do not watch Bad Taste for the story because it is lame. The actors were not real actors, and it shows poorly. Bad Taste has a lot of special effects, and there is no shortage of blood.
