Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan is about Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder ) hiding away on a local cruise consisting of teens from a local high school. The heroine Rennie Wickham (Jensen Daggett) believes herself to be a drowning survivor of Jason Voorhees as a child. Jason Voorhees eventually sinks the cruise and the survivors end up in Manhattan where Jason follows them.

Friday the 13th Part 8 (VIII): Jason Takes Manhattan, the very idea of Jason going to New York sounds like this one might have something new , fresh, and slightly funny to add to the series, but it doesn’t. Instead, it’s just a retread of the previous Friday the 13th horror movies, with a different background and one or two comical points.

Jason Voorhees is accidentally revived from his watery grave and soon boards a boat that’s headed out to Manhattan from Crystal Lake. Well, only a few survivors make it to New York, and the last half hour or so is spent watching Jason stalk them through streets and sewers. Friday the 13th Part 8 (VIII): Jason Takes Manhattan is nothing new, but it did put a permanent end to the series, at least until New Line Cinema bought the rights from Paramount.
