Robert Kirkman"s comic series Outcast found a home at Cinemax. Cinemax"s Outcast Season 1 does not premiere until (2016), but that certainly did not stop the trailer from debuting at the San Diego Comic-Con (2015). Robert Kirkman became very famous after AMC"s The Walking Dead aired and conquered the zombie TV slot. This time around Kirkman takes on demons and the demon possession genre. The Outcast TV series stars Gabriel Bateman, Cameron Blackwelder, and Camden Flowers.

OUTCAST, based on the Skybound/Image comic title by creator Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson, a preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate — and the fate of the world — forever.

Patrick Fugit (“Gone Girl”) stars as Barnes, a man searching for answers, and for redemption, who sequesters himself from those he loves for fear of causing greater hurt. Philip Glenister (“Life on Mars”) stars as Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God’s holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. An inveterate drinker and gambler, he doesn’t believe God intends people to sweat the small stuff. Gabriel Bateman (“Stalker”) stars as Joshua Austin, an eight-year-old who lives across town from Kyle. To his family’s dismay, he appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession, but there’s something very different about this possession and its connection to Kyle Barnes.

OUTCAST is produced for CINEMAX by FOX International Channels, who will serve as the studio and international network on the series; the pilot was directed by Adam Wingard (“The Guest”).

Synopsis:

Kyle Barnes has had a series of misfortunes in his life; his mother would beat him as a child and he was accused of attacking his own daughter. After attending an exorcism in his native town, he is convinced his mother and his wife were possessed and he was not the source of them going bad. He therefore teams up with Reverend Anderson to try and save people that are possessed by demons while putting up with the residents of his town who think he's bad news and would deserve to be in jail.
