Bram Stoker Dracula
User Score: 60/100

Dracula, the vampire lord that Hollywood so lovingly packed to the gills with sex appeal and absolutely mystified is actually nothing like its painted to look like in his many blockbusters…Bram Stoker, the man who engendered this character so deeply rooted in lore, drew him in a completely different picture, and that is just one of the reasons i love this book, it shows you Dracula as his true ugly self.

The way chosen by stoker to deal out his tale of horror was in a series of journals written and recorded by 5 of the main characters, namely: Jonathan Harker, Mina Harker, Professor Van Helsing, Dr. John Seward and Lucy Westenra, each writing their own view on the events which creates a delightful multi dimensional feel to the occurring events, as they so passionately set out to destroy this foe that such tragedy brought into their lives.

However, all good things have their flaws, this novel is no exception. One example is the frustration one feels when a solution or answer seems so obvious to the reader and the characters seem completely oblivious to the most obvious little things while conjuring the most far fetched possibilities, until finally gaining new light. Nonetheless, frustration is a very rare thing while reading this novel, which in itself is a great read, that any horror lover interested in vampires, and the root of the mystified Hollywood Dracula will certainly enjoy.
