Horror fans will enjoy our review of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014), where we cover its story, scares, and how it ranks among modern horror classics.

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) is an American vampire romance thriller horror movie that exceeded my expectations. First-time full-length movie director and writer Ana Lily Amirpour did a marvelous job on this epic film. I felt joy, sorrow and so many other emotions watching this well thought out movie. It is one of a kind. I am above joy to see such a young director/writer with not much experience bring this masterpiece to life without a real story behind it. Writing and directing all of the short stories paid off well for Ana.

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night takes place in the Iranian town of Bad City, that is not real, just fictional. Bad City is an old looking worn place that the movie does not center around. This is one movie that I do not want to write too much about what it is about because it is best seen not knowing anything about it. It does have many twists and turns so you will have to pay attention, that is not hard to do with this fabulous love story. The movie has the right balance between horror, funny, serious and thriller. Ana Lily has talent and has only touched the surface of her abilities. We get to see a vampire (Sheila Vand - Argo (2012), Prom Queen (2007), In the Dark (2008)) live living day to day in Bad City. A few characters you should expect seeing in this movie is a notorious drug dealer Saeed (Dominic Rains), a father Hossein (Marshall Manash) that is addicted to drugs, powerless prostitute Atti (Mozhan Marno) walking the streets in the dark shadows and a businessman Arash (Arash Marandi).

The music is purely amazing, but the film is not for everyone. It is about an innocent love story that draws the characters with not much background information together. Since there is not much background information about some of the characters - you might be asking why in the world did I give this movie an 8. Watch the film, and you will fall in love with its storyline if you do not criticize everything about it. Everyone, horror and non-horror fans should watch this movie.
