Exploring Alien Outpost (2014) through our review, we cover its story, scares, and how it fits into the broader horror genre landscape.
Alien Outpost (2014) is a science fiction thriller horror movie that was originally titled, Outpost 37 (2014). The movie is 90 minutes long and was filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa. This movie is not as predictable as the other movies I have seen this year. Director and co-writer Jabbar Raisani (Capturing the Dead (2015), Watermelon Seeds ( 2009), Speed Stack (2008)) did an awesome job. I would like to see more movies from this director and less shaky cam action.
Alien Outpost is a documentary with a group of filmmakers and journalists following and documenting Outpost 37 struggles to keeps the human race safe. Outpost 37’s job is not to deal with local combats but to deal with the Heavies. Alien Outpost takes place in 2033, after a species of aliens known as Heavies invaded Earth ten years ago. There are a few aliens on Earth that were left behind to end the human race after the majority escaped. The military personnel at Outpost 37 has the responsibility to keep the aliens away. There are several outpost located everywhere to capture the Heavies. They soon discover that the Heavies are not only killing humans…
The visual effects were phenomenal for a low budget film. I gave this a lower score than it deserves because of the shaky camera that annoys me so often because it is difficult to see what’s going on in the movie. I did like that we could hear what the soldiers were saying when interviewed. The actors did a good job with their roles and sets were a nice treat.
