Our review of Blade: Trinity (2004) dives into the story, the scares, and whether it truly delivers the horror fans crave.
Blade: Trinity (2004) was written and directed by David S. Goyer with an estimated movie budget of $65 million. Blade: Trinity only received $52.4 at the US box office. This finale to the Blade movie franchise was nominated for a Saturn Award for best horror film.
Blade: Trinity takes vampire hunter Blade (Wesley Snipes) into new territory as Blade is now hunted by the FBI. Comic book fans will now have the opportunity to see Blade join the Nightstalkers (Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds). Blade plus the Nightstalkers means they are now hunting Dracula (Dominic Purcell).
What can I say? I love the Blade series. Wesley Snipes was meant for this role. a** kicking plus vampire horror action, sweet! This installment puts Blade in an awful predicament. Blade accidentally kills a human while believing him to be a "suck-head." On top of all this, the murder is caught in full on tape and given to the authorities. Now Blade is sought after by vampires and humans. Good old Whistler has Blades back until Whistler becomes incapacitated. Now its Blade against the world. However, some new rookies join the show and help Blade out only to find out that on top of humans and vampires hunting Blade, a new threat has emerged. The original vampire is now reawakened, and he is looking for some sport in the form of combating the ultimate game, namely Blade. Blade: Trinity is a great action adventure worth every minute.
Blade: Trinity suffered from horrible pacing and an unbelievably long and weirdly shot chase scene between Blade and Dracula. Besides that, the story looked like it might have been a little rushed. That coupled with the David S. Goyer and Wesley Snipes feud on set robbed the Blade fans of a better finale to the trilogy. I liked the cast overall, and you see most of them did their best under the circumstances.
Watch this film to have some closure to the series and watch it with an open mind, there was a lot going on.
