Director Katja von Garnier brought us his werewolf movie Blood and Chocolate (2007) whose plot suggested it should be a romance film. Aside from having a horrible movie title, Blood and Chocolate did very little to keep me entertained during the movie.
Blood and Chocolate is about Vivian (Agnes Bruckner - Murder by Numbers (2002), The Woods (2006), Venom (2005)) who is a young teenage werewolf that must choose between two males. The first man named Aidan (Hugh Dancy - Hannibal TV series, King Arthur (2004)) who is human and the second is a werewolf named Gabriel (Olivier Martinez - S.W.A.T. (2003), Taking Lives (2004)).
The script seems to be the culprit here as it allows the actors only to do so much with it. No wonder the critics and many people disliked the film. The cast did the best with what they had, but it was not enough to hold my attention nor excitement. The use of werewolf mythology was interesting, but there were just too many plot holes and inconsistencies. For either werewolf movie fans or romance fans, both should put this film on the bottom of their list as it offers very little but to have said that you did watch it.
