This in-depth review of Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992) explores its story, characters, and scares in detail, offering insights for every horror fan.
Children of the Corn II: Final Sacrifice (1992) is an American horror thriller that is the sequel to Children of the Corn (1984). Director David Price (Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde (1995), Laredo (2009), Son of Darkness: To Die for II (1991)) did an average job executing this cult classic that was written by Stephen King (short story). The movie contains violence, gore, bad language, gruesome scenes, religion, throat slitting, possession, people on fire, killer child, human sacrifice, blood, impaled child, and corpses. There were not much tension, suspense, thrills or frightening scenes.
Children of the Corn II: Final Sacrifice revolves around the town of Hemingford, Nebraska and the surviving children from Gatlin. The adults in Hemingford adopted the surviving children whom later went to the cornfield. Reporter John Garret (Terence Knox - Tour of Duty (1987), St. Elsewhere (1982), Tripwire (1989)) and is covering the Gatlin’s children story. John began a relationship with Angela (Rosalind Allen - All My Children (1970), Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994), Santa Barbara (1984), Ticks (1993)) who is the owner of the bed and breakfast he is staying at while his son Danny spends time with Lacey. There are a killer/killers on the loose that is murdering just about anyone with no concern. John grew suspicious of the deaths/murders and began investigating, but everyone he appears to investigate ends up dead shortly after. Could the corn from the cornfield be the cause of the making people kill others? There is a lot about the movie that is interesting, but I cannot say because they are all spoilers.
Children of the Corn II: Final Sacrifice obviously has a lot of flaws, but it was an entertaining watch that had some pretty good kills and action scenes. This is the best segment in its series by far, and that is a terrible thing because this movie only scored a five - makes you wonder what the other movies are like. All of the actors gave an average performance, and the special effects were nothing above average. The cinematographer, editor, director, producer and makeup department did an average job - no one gave anything to the movie that was above average which is sad, but the movie was not a bad watch, so it works. Just imagine if everyone had put their best foot forward when working on this film - what and exquisite, magnificent watch it could have been.
