The title is pronounced Fields… of… TERRRROOORRRRR! by the way. Yet another instalment in a series based on a premise so obviously not made for sequels I can hardly believe it got this far, let alone grinding on for two more films after this, it barely steps outside the well-established formula. A couple of promising ideas are left completely undeveloped, and one in particular is so laughably thin it makes the surrounding plot look inspired.
Of course there are spooky kids, plenty of blood, the daffy corn cult and deeply stupid outsiders. One of the stupid outsiders, Kia (Eva Mendes) reads about two pages of the cult’s Bible, decides to join, and flings herself into a burning corn silo in the name of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Yeah, she’s upset, but come on! The movie never even tries to convince us that she’s in enough turmoil to drive her to it. It’s ridiculous. It could have been interesting, bit of a look at brainwashing maybe, but it’s a nothing plot twist.
