Our take on Critters 2 (1988) explores its plot, scares, and horror highlights to help fans decide if it deserves a place on their watchlist.

Critters 2 (1988) is an American science fiction comedy horror movie that is also known as Critters 2: The Main Course. Director and co-writer Mick Garris (Hocus Pocus (1993), The Fly II (1989), Masters of Horror (2005)) did a good job with this movie as it had me laughing quite a bit. The movie contains some nudity, comedy, minor bad language, lots of kills, and a frightening scene where a critter almost bit a child. Critters 2 is the sequel to the 1986 film Critters and is the second movie in the Critters series.

Charlie McFadden (Don Keith Opper - Critters (1986), Critters 4 (1992), Slam Dance (1987)) is a human that is on a desolated planet in space looking for a dangerous creature that looks like a worm. She receives the help of hunters Ug (Terrence Mann - All My Children (1970), Critters (1986), Critters 4 (1992)) and Lee (Roxanne Kernohan - Tango & Cash (1989), Not of This Earth (1988), Phoenix the Warrior (1988)) who are shapeshifting bounties. Charlie and his crew depart the planet after they found the creature and killed it. Head of the High Council Zanti (Cynthia Garris - Sleepwalkers (1992), Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990), Linnea Quigley‘s Horror Workout (1990)) gave Charlie a new task which is to destroy the Critters that are still on Earth. Charlie does not feel so good about this mission as he is afraid his team may abandon him and leave him there. Will Charlie and his buddies be able to save the humans from the Critters? The Critters kill one of the main guys - watch the movie to see who it is if you are wondering?

I found that the acting, blood amount, special effects and Critters were all okay but not excellent. There was a lot of comedies that had me laughing. The only shocker in this movie was the Critter in the ending scene. I gave this movie a five because it was not far different from the first movie - the plot was almost the same, and the movie took place in the same town as the previous movie. Critters 2 did not get a lower score because it was a nice watch on a rainy day.
