Our take on Dark Carnival (1993) explores its plot, scares, and horror highlights to help fans decide if it deserves a place on their watchlist.

Dark Carnival (1993) is an American horror movie that is 90 minutes long and is unrated. Director and producer Eric Worthington did a terrible job executing his first movie Dark Carnival. My opinion is that a first-time director should never try to take too much on his plate as this director obviously did, he also starred in the movie. Needless to say, Eric quit directing and producing movies after Dark Carnival but he went on to acting in one more movie before he ended his career in the movie industry. All horror fans should not see this movie even if you are paid too. You will regret it because it fails in every way possible.

Dark Carnival title and cover art are misleading because one might assume that the movie relates to a carnival theme, but there is nothing that resembles a carnival in this movie. The movie revolves around a group of people buying an old house so that they can set it up as a haunted house for Halloween. The house magically makes everyone in the house turn into an evil person, and the majority of them disappear. The few that remains cannot escape the house, regardless of how hard they try and what they do. We are soon introduced to a building inspector that turns out to be evil, and his main objective is to kill the people in the house.

This movie is not worth watching if it is on TV and is totally free of charge because it is an utter waste of someone’s precious time. Movies are supposed to be entertaining for the most of it and not a dreadful experience. It is supposed to make a person relax instead of watching the time anxiously awaiting for it to end. The movie was plain awful in every possible way, and I would give it a zero, but our grading system does not allow me to do so. I applaud individuals for making low-budget movies, but I do not applaud these individuals to make any more movies. There were enormous plot holes that a house could sink into, and the acting did not help the movie to excel in any way because the acting was also awful.
