Horror fans will enjoy our review of Deadly Intruder (1988), where we cover its story, scares, and how it ranks among modern horror classics.

Deadly Intruder (1988) is an American thriller horror movie that is 86 minutes long. Director John McCauley (Rattlers (1976)) failed at executing his second movie and did not direct any other movie after this. The movie had potential, but the screenplay did not help the inexperienced director. This movie is a cliche to so many other movies including Halloween that were made around the same time.

Deadly Intruder is a straightforward movie that does not leave much to think about. It does have one twist towards the ending but that is all the suspense you are in for. It is about a lunatic man that escaped from a mental institution and killed everyone that appears to be a threat to him on his way. Jessie (Molly Cheek - American Pie (1999), American Wedding (2003), It’s Garry Shandling’s Show (1986), Harry and the Hendersons (1991)) is a lonely woman that lives by herself in the middle of nowhere. She soon becomes infatuated with a new man in town and has dinner with him and two other friends. While having dinner, a homeless man watches them from outside and about two or three murders occur. The homeless man (Tony Crupi - Two of a Kind (1983), F.I.S.T (1978), Hero at Large (1980)) breaks into Jessie’s home during the night and holds her hostage for his own interest.

The actors all did a pretty good job with their roles. The death scenes (axe, head through television, car crushing human, face shoved into fan blades) were done good and was a sight to see as I said most of the movie was a cliche. Deadly Intruder was an entertaining watch although it was scenes already seen. I would not recommend this to other horror fans to watch. The movie was slow, and there was absolutely no real suspense that will make you think for one, everything was given to you.
