Our take on Demonic (2015) explores its plot, scares, and horror highlights to help fans decide if it deserves a place on their watchlist.

Demonic (2015) is an American thriller horror movie that is 83 minutes long and was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. Director Will Canon (Brotherhood (2010))and his writers did an okay job with this movie, but it could have been a fantastic horror movie. The movie contains a huge amount of blood, bad language, and a twist at the end. I did not like that the movie went back and forth between the past and present and also between narratives. I could have done less with the found-footage scares - it did not make me scared, so it was a failed attempt in my opinion.

Demonic released on DVD for SRP: $19.98 on October 10, 2017.

Demonic begins by introducing us to Detective Mark Lewis (Frank Grillo - Warrior (2011), The Grey (2011), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), The Purge: Anarchy (2014)) who is sent to check on a disturbance at an old haunted house. Mark saw three dead college student bodies in the house and the one survivor who is assumed to massacred the individuals. He called in a local psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Klein (Maria Bello - A History of Violence (2005), Prisoners (2013), Secret Window (2004), Payback (1999)) help him question the suspect John (Dustin Milligan - Slither (2006), Repeaters (2010), Shark Night 3D (2011)). The other officers found footage from the crime scene, but they are damaged and might take a while to get repaired. Shortly after we learn that the dead victims were new ghost hunters. They held a seance in the house and lost their lives, so it did not go as planned - do not mess with ghosts.

Elizabeth spoke to John and John told her that he believed that one of the spirits in the house during the seance was his mother. John also told her that his pregnant girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend is still missing. Elizabeth continues to question John and found out more disturbing details. Where are the missing individuals? Who is the killer? Was it a demon, ghost or the devil. The movie was just another watch that I did not like or dislike. I gave the movie a five because the concept was there, but there are just so many movies out there that are similar to this film, and this movie did not stand out as much as the others.
