Our review of Don't Kill It (2016) dives into the story, the scares, and whether it truly delivers the horror fans crave.

Don’t Kill It (2016) is a 1h 33-min American fantasy horror that was shot in Mississippi, USA; Canton, Mississippi, USA; Lexington, Mississippi, USA and Redondo Beach, California, USA. Director Mike Mendez (Tales of Halloween (2015), The Gravedancers (2006), Big a** Spider! (2013), Lavalantula (2015)) did an okay job bringing us this film that contains tension, suspense, chaos, violence, little thrills, gore, murders, and humor. Fans who love themselves some good old chainsaw murders, body explosions, meat cleaver, and guns will enjoy this film but beware that the violence and gore are somewhat cartoonish. The opening sequence was appealing and captured my undivided attention after telling us what the demon can do but it did not take long for me to lose some interest in the film as it cannot deliver what it first promised.

Demon bounty hunter Jebediah Woodley (Dolph Lundgren - The Expendables (2010), The Expendables 2 (2012), Universal Soldier (1992), Rocky IV (1985)) learned how to hunt demons from his father. He has been in the family business since childhood and has dealt with/encountered several different evil entities in his lifetime. Jebediah came face to face with a demon in Chickory Creek, Mississippi that is not so easy to kill because the demon will enter the killers body and take it as its new host. FBI agent Evelyn Pierce (Kristina Klebe - Halloween (2007), Dementia (2015), Proxy (2013), Criminal Minds (2009)) teams up with Jebediah to fight the demon that is terrorizing her former hometown. Most of the townspeople suspect Jebediah of not being a good person.

Dolph Lundgren and Kristina Klebe gave us excellent performances with beautiful charisma and sense of humor. I did not like his character, but if you put that aside, his acting skills were on point. Jebediah’s past was not explored enough for the audience to understand him fully. Dolph and Kristina’s chemistry/relationship was realistic and convincing. The editing/continuity in some scenes was choppy and did not flow well. Horror fans will enjoy Don’t Kill It if they watch it will an open mind and do not take it too seriously - just go along with the flow.
