This in-depth review of Goosebumps (2015) explores its story, characters, and scares in detail, offering insights for every horror fan.
Goosebumps (2015) is an American 3D computer-animated action horror movie that contains comedy and is based on Goosebumps children’s book series by R.L. Stine. Director Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens (2009), Shark Tale (2004), Gulliver’s Travels (2010)) has amazing talents as he shines in directing his fifth movie, Goosebumps. I absolutely cannot wait to see more movies from Rob because I have enjoyed all of his movies so far. Rob did an excellent job mixing comedy, scares, horror and thrills together. Goosebumps was an outstanding movie, and I love every bit of it because my entire family loved it, including my four-year-old. I cannot wait to see this movie again with my family and friends. The movie received my undivided attention which is not easily achieved.
Goosebumps revolve around teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette - Prisoners (2013), Let Me In (2010), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014)) who is unhappy about moving to a small town from a big city. Zach’s mind soon changes when he meets Hannah (Odeya Rush - The Giver (2014), The Odd Life of Timothy Green (2012), We Are What We Are (2013)), his next door neighbor. Hannah’s dad warns Zach to stay away from his home and from his daughter and if he is caught with her again, then he will be sorry because something awful will happen. I was surprised to learn Hannah’s secret because I did not suspect that she was anything but normal. Hannah’s dad caught Hannah and Zach together resulting in him once again warning Zach and taking Hannah home. Zach thought that Hannah’s dad hurt her after he heard screaming and saw hand action through the windows. Skip forward, Zach soon discovers that Hannah’s dad is R. L. Stine (Jack Black - Kung Fu Panda (2008), King Kong (2005), School of Rock (2003), Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006)) and is the author of the Goosebumps series. He only discovers the truth about Hannah’s dad after he accidently opens one of his books that is locked with a key which resulted in him releasing the monster. I was sad when I heard R.L. Stine’s childhood story and the reason he wrote only about monsters that became real. R.L. Stine became a prisoner because of his vivid imagination. He constantly moved from state to state because he had to protect his readers by keeping the monsters locked up in the books. It did not take long for all of the monsters in the books to be released resulting in them terrorizing the town. Will R.L. Stine, Hannah and Zach be able to save the town alone?
Overall, this is one of the best family movies out there that can be seen on any occasion and there is nothing that needs to be changed in this movie. It was perfect in every way with beautiful graphics, excellent sets, and an awesome screenplay. The actors did a fabulous job with their respective roles; no flaws were found. The cinematographers, sound department, special effects and camera angle were excellent. All horror fans and nonhorror fans should see this movie at their earliest convenience because you will not be disappointed.
