Horror fans searching for a breakdown of Hansel vs. Gretel (2015) will find our review covers the plot, themes, and the shocking ending everyone talks about.
Hansel vs. Gretel (2015) is an American horror movie that was filmed in Los Angeles, California, USA. Director Ben Demaree (I Am Omega (2007), AVH: Alien vs. Hunter (2007), Sharknado (2013), Sharknado 2: The Second One (2014)) did an okay job executing a weak, inconsistent script that might make Hansel and Gretel fans furious. The movie contains witch covens, Hansel and Gretel, fog, magic, witchcraft, gore, blood splatter, cannibalism, cemetery, humour, face ripped off/head cut off/throat ripped out, decapitation, witch hunter, and few dreary scenes. Hansel Vs Gretel is such a rip off of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013).
Hansel vs. Gretel naturally revolves around Hansel (Brent Lydic - Super-Fan Builds (2014), Wasted (2006), ChupaCobra (2013)) and Gretel looking for a friend who has disappeared. There is not much to say about the film except for there are witches that gain the help of Gretel, who decides going to the dark side is better for her and tons of blood splatter everywhere. Gretel (Lili Baross - Marked (2013), Technopolis (2015), The Golden Age: Heroes of Men (2014)) going to the dark side is no spoiler as it is predictable.
Brent Lydic and Lili Baros did an excellent job playing Hansel (hero) and Gretel (evil), but the other cast members did not do such a great job with their roles. The special effects department did a horrible job and maybe if they had tried a little harder, then the movie could have made it to being an average film. The gore just happens without much thought/sense and it can be too excessive at times with numerous murders. I think the best part of the film was the ending as it was odd but at the same time entertaining. Hansel vs. Gretel receives a four from me because it was not bad but it was not good either and is definitely something that I would recommend to Hansel and Gretel fans.
