Our take on Jaws: The Revenge (1987) explores its plot, scares, and horror highlights to help fans decide if it deserves a place on their watchlist.
It is the Christmas season in Amity. Ellen Brody and her son, Sean are all festive. Ellen is now widowed, due to her husband Martin had died of a heart attack. Ellen feels it was a fear-of-sharks induced heart attack. Her eldest son, Michael, has moved to the Bahamas to study marine biology. He’s married to Carla and has a daughter Thea, so Ellen is a grandmother. Sean is a deputy of the Amity Police force and that night he was called away to duty: he was told to remove some floating debris stuck on a buoy, so he went out on a harbor patrol boat. The ocean was quiet that night. Then suddenly, an enormous Great White shark leaped up and bit off Sean’s arm and destroyed the vessel. It leaped up again and attacked Sean. The shark was Jaws Jr., and he was getting revenge for the murder of his father and would not rest until the entire Brody family was dead. The shark looked better than the original but still the film didnt compare to the first two just like number 3.
