Open Grave (2013) shocked audiences with its ending. Our spoiler-free review explains the scares, themes, and what makes this film unforgettable.

This movie, Open Grave, was sort of different from others where dead bodies were used to ward off zombies by hanging the dead bodies on trees. Also, can you imagine waking up in a grave of dead bodies and not remembering who you are and if you kill all those people surrounding you, but you have a gun in your hand and see kids also dead around you? This movie was way too slow for me, but I watched it to the end because I wanted to see what happened and I was surprised at the ending. The beginning of this horror movie was just okay and a bit original, but then it was way too dragged on, over building suspense.

Open Grave is about a group of people who wake up having no knowledge of who they are, where they are, who each other is and how they got there. Each character thinks they are someone else, and eventually the story starts to unfold, and they begin to regain memory fragments of who they are. The characters and audience learn who the characters are as the movie progresses.

I kept on remembering scenes from The Walking Dead TV Series during this entire movie because it was similar or a bite off but doesn’t compare to The Walking Dead which I love. Open Grave does contain little violence, little amount of gory scenes, zombies and bad language. I gave this movie a five because it was boring and slow but it contains suspense which made me have different scenarios of what is going to happen. I felt as though it was dragged on and on. Although I was surprised at the ending, it does not make it a better movie; the script was either terrible or director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego (Apollo 18, Thumbs Up, Nomadas) did a really bad job executing this movie. I felt the actors could have been better. It had two or maybe three great scenes which cannot make a great movie to watch.
