Exploring Predators (2010) through our review, we cover its story, scares, and how it fits into the broader horror genre landscape.

There have been a variety of terrifying alien franchises, but Predator stands out among the pack. The dreadlocked invisible alien, who stalks its prey, proved a formidable opponent against Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original film and returns for to the hunt in the 2010 film, Predators (2010). This time Predator takes on a group of mercenaries and murderers in the jungle and proves to be a deadly game.

Predators star Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who is dropped into the middle of the jungle and finds himself amongst a group of people who are all killers. The group does not know how they arrived in the jungle and discovered that the planet they are on is not Earth. They are immediately attacked by creatures that kills one of them. The group manages to escape and are horrified by what they have just seen.

The group meets Noland, played by Laurence Fishburne, who is a soldier that has managed to stay alive on the planet by hiding from the Predators. Noland tells the group that the Predators bring humans and other creatures to the planet so that they can hunt them. He also tells them that there is a war going on between the large and small Predators.

Noland traps the group, and they find out that he is going to use them as food. The group tries to escape, and their commotion alerts Predator to their location which results in a deadly battle to survive.

This movie really surprised me when I saw it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and it proved to be quite interesting. Adrien Brody plays against type as a mercenary who is doing everything possible not to die and get off the planet. He tries to make sense of what is going on around him without succumbing to fear. He has never encountered anything like this before and utilizes all of his skills to keep himself alive.

The special effects in the movie are also done quite well when displaying the fighting scenes between the Predators. The gadgetry that the Predators have is also upgraded since the original film with the evolution of CGI.

Overall, Predators is an entertaining movie. It’s interesting storyline of being dropped into an unknown world with alien hunters playing a cat and mouse game with its prey. As an audience member, you can imagine the fear and courage that the humans have as they fight to outwit an advanced alien race.
