Princess of Mars (2009) is an American science fiction thriller movie that went directly to DVD. The film was retitled and re-released in as John Carter of Mars (2012). Director and co-writer Mark Atkins (Haunting of Winchester House (2009), P-51 Dragon Fighter (2014), Battle of Los Angeles (2011)) did a horrible job with this movie. I do not recommend this movie to anyone to watch as it was an utter waste of my time. The only good thing was the cover image, and even that was not excellent. The actors failed at giving a convincing performance, and the makeup department failed at doing a good job. The lighting, special effects, sound department and all of the writers failed miserably in making this movie somewhat watchable.
Princess of Mars revolves around John Carter (Antonio Sabato Jr. - The Bold and the Beautiful (1987), The Big Hit (1998), Drifter: Henry Lee Lucas (2009)) who is in the U.S. Army. He is stationed in Afghanistan as a sniper. He became wounded and was used in a teleportation experiment that transferred him to Barsoom. Barsoom is located outside of our solar system. John can make huge leaps on Barsoom and later save Princess Dejah Thoris (Traci Lords) from a rival group. After a few events, John became the leader/captain of the Tharks. Watch the movie to see what the Tharks are. After a few more events, John wishes to be back in Barsoom but does not want to tell anyone about the place. He fears that it will be destroyed by others.
