Our take on Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) explores its plot, scares, and horror highlights to help fans decide if it deserves a place on their watchlist.

Paul W.S. Anderson directed Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) won 2 movie awards and was nominated for 8 more. Another film in a series of Resident Evil movies inspired by the famous Capcom horror game franchise. Resident Evil: Afterlife had an estimated movie budget of $60 million bringing back $60 million at the US box office.

Resident Evil: Afterlife stars Milla Jovovich as Alice and Ali Larter as Claire. We also get classic Capcom Resident Evil characters like Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine and Wentworth Miller as Chris Redfield. In this installment, Alice continues her fight against the Umbrella Corporation picking up as many survivors on the way. Alice and company follow a new lead to Los Angeles where a safe haven may exist. Alice and group are instead led to an infested dead territory in a carefully orchestrated trap.

Resident Evil: Afterlife suffers from the same sense of repetitiveness and over the top Alice kill scenes that are now seen as a trademark of the Resident Evil movies. The pacing is a lot of action and slow sequences where you know Alice is the only character going to be unharmed.

I am a fan of the series to the end, but I rated this film with other in mind bored of the plot. Many everyday moviegoers do not understand that this horror game adaptation series is not something that can be told in a straightforward trilogy being that large a scale, there are going to be movies in the franchise that only reveal a sliver of new information.
