Exploring Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) through our review, we cover its story, scares, and how it fits into the broader horror genre landscape.

Russell Mulcahy directed Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) won 2 movie awards and received 1 movie award nomination. Resident Evil: Extinction had an estimated $45 million movie budget to take in $50.6 million at the US box office.

In Resident Evil: Extinction we again pick up the story with Alice (Milla Jovovich) and the rest of the Raccoon City survivors traveling across the Nevada desert. Their goal is to make it to Alaska where the zombies are less frequent. Again, the Umbrella Corp. tracks down the survivors and Alice unleashing more zombies and monsters on them.

Resident Evil: Extinction does a good job in trying to excite the fans with something new from the franchise, but I could not help thinking that the action scenes all seem to be shot the same way. Casting L.J. (Mike Epps) for comedic scenes was a step in the right direction.

You always know Alice will save the day with some over the top action sequence and most of the cast just there to showcase that fact. For most moviegoers, that is what they see in these movies now, but for the Capcom Resident Evil fans, we support, overlook, and dig deeper for something average movie fans do not see. That being said, I enjoyed watching every Resident Evil movie but rated this film a 6 out of 10 trying to keep that balance.
