Freaks of Nature Review

In the town of Dillford, humans, vampires and zombies were all living in peace - until the alien apocalypse arrived. Now three teenagers-one human, one vampire and one zombie-have to team up to figure out how to get rid of the visitors.

Freaks of Nature (2015) is an American horror-comedy that was originally titled Kitchen Sink (2015). Robbie Pickering (Natural Selection (2011), Prom Night (2003), The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2016)) failed at executing this movie as his directorial skills need improvement. The humor was not very funny or consistent in the first act and was a little better in the second act but returned in the third act to be hit-or-miss. The zombie makeup was the best part of the movie as it was excellent with no flaws found by me. The premise of the of the film sounds fun, but the movie fails to deliver on its promise. I did not like the majority of the characters as they were unlikeable and annoying. The actors all did a great job with their roles, but the story and development of the movie need major improvement. I did not say much about his movie except introduce a few characters because this film had no introduction and appeared as though it had no real thought out screenplay. I gave this movie a four because it was nice to have a combination of vampires leaving their victims bloodless and zombies ripping their victims apart.

Freaks of Nature revolves around a town where vampires, humans, and zombies get along until the arrival of extraterrestrial beings. Dag (Nicholas Braun - The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), Red State (2011), The Watch (2012)) is not very secure and has a crush on his neighbor Lorelei. Ned (Josh Fadem - Miss March (2009), Visions of Terror (2008), Frank Pierre Presents: Pierre Resort & Casino (2014)) is the smart kid in school that everyone picks on and is ready to live a simple life by becoming a zombie. Petra (Mackenzie Davis - The Martian (2015), That Awkward Moment (2014), What If (2013)) likes Milan, who is a vampire and only desires that moment when Milan will change her. Mr. Keller ( Keegan-Michael Key - MADtv (1995), The Lego Movie (2014), Tomorrowland (2015), Let’s Be Cops (2014)) is a vampire and has been teaching high school for 97 years. Milan Pinache (Ed Westwick - Gossip Girl (2007), Children of Men (2006), J. Edgar (2011), Breaking and Entering (2006)) is a selfish vampire that uses people. Jenna Zombie (Mae Whitman - Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005), Independence Day (1996), The DUFF (2015), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)) is a zombie that appears pleased with being a zombie. Dag, Ned, and Petra have known each other since childhood, but they are not close. They joined together as they had temporary safety and began devising a plan to save the town.
