Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Review
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) is an American adventure fantasy movie that contains a good bit of action. I have been waiting for this film to be released since I saw the trailer and could not be happier after seeing it last night. Director J.J. Abrams (Lost (2004), Super 8 (2011), Mission: Impossible III (2006), Armageddon (1998)) did a wonderful job rejuvenating the Star Wars franchise. I applaud Abrams for taking a risk executing this movie with a new adventure in hand and also with new characters. Abrams directed the film in a unique way; Star Wars fans will be thrilled upon seeing it and those that are not familiar with the franchise will not be lost because the movie is detailed. Memorable parts from the past six films in its franchise can be seen being utilized in this film in a beautiful, meaningful way. Most of the actors did a terrific job with their roles but there for a few that I could have cared for less because their acting skills appeared mediocre.
The movie revolves around new cast members Daisy Ridley (Scrawl (2015), Lifesaver (2013)) who plays Rey and John Boyega (Attack the Block (2011), Imperial Dreams (2014), My Murder (2012)) who plays Finn. Daisy and John did an amazing job with their performances. Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place approximately 30 years after Return of the Jedi (1983) where we saw the demise of the Galactic Empire and destruction of the Death Star. There has been peace for a long time, but there is a threat now that might create chaos and disrupt orders. I will not say much about the movie because I do not want to spoil the movie for anyone. I love the pace of the film as it was intense and fast paced, my kind of movie. I also love that the movie left a few hints that there will be a subsequent sequel. Star Wars: The Force Awakens should be seen by everyone, regardless if you are a fan or not because it is an experience that should not be missed. The editing was flawless as well as the special effects and cinematography. With all said, it is a movie that should not be missed by open-minded fans. The film does not offer a lot of new material and appears as though it is more of an homage than a sequel but regardless of what it is, I had a fantastic time watching it.
