The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Review

Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) is a Swedish-American psychological crime thriller that was based on the Stieg Larsson novel of the same name. Sony Pictures Entertainment took several months to gain the rights to the novel and began development in 2009 on the film. Finding the right actress was extremely hard while the script took about six months to write. Director David Fincher (Fight Club (1999), Se7en (1995), Gone Girl (2014), The Social Network (2010)) did an incredible job executing Steven Zaillian‘s (Schindler’s List (1993), American Gangster (2007), Gangs of New York (2002)) screenplay. The movie contains lots of nudity, sexual content, extreme violence, a graphic rape scene, bad language, suspense, thrills, frightening scenes, and intense moments.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo revolves around Mikael Blomkvist ( Daniel Craig - Skyfall (2012), Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008)) who is the co-owner of Millennium magazine and a journalist. Businessman Hans-Erik Wennerstrom (Ulf Friberg - Evil (2003), Jerusalem (1996), Mannen pa balkongen (1993)) filed a case against Mikael. He is on a mission to investigate the disappearance of a wealthy female/woman who vanished over forty years ago in Stockholm, Sweden. Mikeal recruited Lisbeth Salander ( Rooney Mara - The Social Network (2010), Side Effects (2013), Her (2013)) who is a mastermind computer hacker and investigator. Henrik Vanger ( Christopher Plummer - Up (2009), A Beautiful Mind (2001), The Sound of Music (1965)) hired Mikael to investigate what happened to his grandniece forty years ago. Harriet’s disappearance has torn the family apart, and Henrik and his family needs answers for closure. Lisbeth is one of the best hackers who has several tattoos and is secretive.

Mikeal is on that mission because Henrick promised him that if he can solve the case of Harriet and find who her murderer is then he will give information on Hans-Erik that will make the case go away. Mikeal soon discovers a notebook containing several names and phone numbers at the Vanger’s residence that no one has ever been able to decipher. The movie goes on to being an excellent entertaining watch. Daniel Craig did a phenomenal job with his role as well as Rooney Mara. It was nice seeing Daniel and Rooney warming up to each other in this film as their acting appear so realistic, the way it should be. The movie was excellent and should be watched by mystery, drama, horror, and crime lovers.
