Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) is an American action crime thriller movie that is the sequel to Sin City (2005). The movie is based on Sin City’s second book in the series and is written by Frank Miller. Directors Frank Miller (The Spirit (2008), Sin City (2005)) and Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse (2007), Planet Terror (2007), Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003)) did a marvelous job working together on this awesome movie. The movie contains strong violence, s**ual content, bad language, drug use, suspense, gore, stylish, twists and comedy. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is a continuation from Sin City (2005) that contains old and new characters. The movie had many parts to it, and you have to stay focused or you will be confused and lost. It is a great movie, but it has too many changes going on during the movie.
Nancy (Jessica Alba) has turned to hard liquor, and a handgun since her protector Hartigan (Bruce Willis) who is a cop committed suicide. Nancy is out for revenge and wants to take down Senator Roark (Powers Boothe) who had driven her friend and protector to kill himself. Hartigan becomes a ghostlike guardian for Nancy that tries to help her but cannot reach her. Nancy had the chance to kill Senator Roark at a poker game, but she could not bring herself to pull the trigger. She seems to be losing as it as she starts to hallucinate. She thought Senator Roark was there with her and soon after cuts her hair and then smashes a mirror so that she can use the broken pieces to cut her face. Marv saw that Nancy is losing it and offers to help her with killing Senator Roark.
Nancy’s story was the most interesting story but seems to get lost with the other stories. It is better for you to watch Sin City before going to see Sin City: A Dame to Kill For because it has been nine years in between both movies. The acting was strong and on point from all the actors. The movie was black and white but the colors used when it did was vibrant and beautifully done. It is a great movie, and I recommend for you to see it - especially comic book fans. The movie in general has a comic book feel so those who do not like comic books would stay clear of this movie. I recommend for those of you who can see it in 3D to do so - you would not be disappointed.
