Terminator Genisys (2015) is an Ameican sci-fi adventure action movie that is also known as Terminator 5. Terminator Genisys (2015) is the fifth film in the Terminator series. Director Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World (2013), Palookaville (1995), The Emperor’s New Clothes (2001)) did an outstanding job executing this fantastic movie. I would recommend everyone to go out and see this movie in 3D if you can - you will not be disappointed. There is extreme graphic violence, bad language, suspense, intense fighting action scenes and awesome sets. I will see this movie again before it leaves the theater in Imax 3D. It appeared as though the best scenes from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 was taken and put into this movie. I recommend this movie because the action scenes are well done. Do not see this movie if you want the full experience because the screenplay was terrible - I would give the screenplay a five.
Terminator Genisys starts in the year 2029 where John Connor (Jason Clarke - Zero Dark Thirty (2012), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), The Great Gatsby (2013), Lawless (2012)) is the leader of the human resistance. John was informed that Skynet will attack two fronts (past and future) which means that the warfare will be changed forever. John has a plan, and that is to destroy Skynet’s main defense grid and to destroy Skynet’s main weapon. Skynet’s weapon is hidden in a storage facility. The movie was filled with nonstop action and received my undivided attention. There was traveling back in time to save John’s mother and then traveling to the year 2017 because of a memory that Kyle experienced while time traveling. Kyle (Jai Courtney - Divergent (2014), A Good Day to Die Hard (2013), Jack Reacher (2012), Insurgent (2015)) and John’s mother killed the T-1000 (Byung-hun Lee) by using acid to disintegrate it in the sewer. Kyle used his charm and convinced John’s mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke - HBO’s Game of Thrones (2011), Dom Hemingway (2013), Spike Island (2012)) and the Guardian to travel to 2017 with him. Sarah joins Kyle and the Guardian/Pops (Arnold Schwarzenegger - The Terminator (1984), Total Recall (1990), Predator (1987), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)) stays back to prepare for Sarah’s return 33 years later. There is so much more to this movie that you probably have seen in other Terminator movies, but I am not going to spoil it for you.
The pacing of the movie was just right and made up for the fact that the screenplay was a bit weaker than its predecessors. Arnold Schwarzenegger did an incredibly excellent job with his role - it was believable, and he owned the part with his spectacular acting. He gave the movie the extra oomph it needed and made the movie excel. Emilia Clarke did a good job with her role, but she does not compare to the great acting by Linda Hamilton from Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991). I was in disbelief to see that they renamed the T-800 to Pops, it took a little of the edge away. The sets were good, and the CGI was excellent.
