The Hunted (2013) is an American found footage thriller movie that I will not see again. Director and writer Josh Stewart (The Collection (2012), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Law Abiding Citizen (2009)) failed at executing this movie that appeared to have a good script but then again maybe the script was at fault. The movie contains adult language that kids may not understand, bad language, violence, frightening scenes, dark scenes, slow storyline, plot holes and shaky camera footage.
Jake (Josh Stewart - The Dark Knight Rises (2012), The Collection (2012), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Law Abiding Citizen (2009)) is a man that loves the outdoors and hopes of having his own hunting show one day. Jake has a cameraman, Stevie (Ronnie Gene Blevins - The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Joe (2013), Seven Psychopaths (2012), Sequence (2013)) whom he trusts immensely. Jake and Stevie went on a three-day trip to West Virginia woods/forest to shoot their first episode. The trees in the woods were amazingly creepy and not what a person would like to sleep next to. They were also landmarks that stand alone in the middle of nowhere that does not belong there; it was just strange. After a few events, they came up with nothing during their first two days in the woods. They had their hands full on their third day as it was a fight for survival. After a few scenes, we see Stevie and Jake running through the woods in an effort to get away from something that we cannot apparently see that is chasing them.
I give this movie a four because it was not a total waste of my time, but I will not watch this movie again. The movie is such a cliche and to make matters worse; it does not flow well. I could not say if this movie had potential because maybe the script was not well written and then again maybe the director failed at executing a perfect script. I dislike the shaky camera footages, and the light and cinematography did not help one bit. The movie was way too dark at times, to the point where you cannot see anything. I was just shaking my head mostly throughout the entire movie because we are seeing two great actors in a movie they should have stayed clear of.
