The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Beginning (2006) is an American slasher horror movie that is the sixth installment of the Texas Chainsaw franchise and the prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). Director Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles (2011), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), Wrath of the Titans (2012)) did a good job but not as good as the original in 1974. The movie contains s**ual references, violence, bad language, gore, suspense, thrills, intense scenes and nonstop action.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning starts out by introducing us to the main characters backstory. We see a woman giving birth in a meat packing company building and dies soon after. The boss of the factory throws the baby who is very much alive in the dumpster. Luda Mae Hewitt (Allison Marich - Texasville (1990), The Trip to Bountiful (1985), An Elaborate Plan (2009)) is looking for food in the dumpster and saw the baby. She takes the baby to her home and names him Thomas.
It is not 30 years later, and Thomas/Leatherface (Andrew Bryniarski - Batman Returns (1992), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Any Given Sunday (1999)) coincidentally is working in the very same meat packing company he was born in. He does not know that his mother died after giving birth to him there and that he is now working for the same boss who threw him in the garbage/dumpster. After a few events, Leatherface used a sledgehammer to kill his boss and took a chainsaw with him upon leaving the factory. A Sheriff told Luda Mae’s son Charlie Hewitt (R. Lee Ermey - Full Metal Jacket (1987), Se7en (1995), Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2 (1999)) that Leatherface murdered his boss. Charlie told the Sheriff that he would help him find Leatherface and went with him. Upon finding Leatherface, Charlie kills the Sheriff and takes his identity. What they did with the Sheriff after murdering him will make me think triple time when eating food that I did not cook. You can only imagine what happens from this point on as one of the brothers are posing as a sheriff. Watch the movie to see all that happens after. You will not be disappointed.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is an incredible action-packed movie that stays true to the Chainsaw franchise. The sets, music, sceneries, cinematography, lighting and actors were all amazing. I think this movie lacked directing skills because the screenplay was just right. I cannot wait to see the next film.
