Tiger House (2015) is a UK/South African drama thriller crime movie that is was filmed in Kirstenbosch Drive, Bishopscourt, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa; Ottery Youth Centre, Plantation Rd, Ferness, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa and Waterlane House, 58th Avenue, Wynberg Park, Wynberg, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Director Thomas Daley did a poor job executing his first full-length movie that had a great deal of potential but was dissected too many times to be what it could have been. The movie contains bad language, violence, action, minimal suspense, plot holes, goofs and minor thrills.
Tiger House revolves around Kelly (Kaya Scodelario - Moon (2009), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), The Maze Runner (2014), The Truth About Emanuel (2013)) who was not planning on having an eventful night filled with life-threatening situations. Kelly is a young female who decides to break into her boyfriend’s room one night not knowing that the house was being under attacked or invaded by intruders. Kelly is also an injured gymnast so how will she be able to defend her boyfriend’s house against the intruders. The boyfriend is trained with a crossbow, and his mother was just terrible as she screamed out loud while they are being attacked. Why did she not keep quiet so that the intruders will not know where she is? How come Kelly could not open the windows on several occasions and why is there so many cameras in the house but no alarm system?
The characters were one-dimensional in an atmosphere of not much tension, but their acting was okay and so was their dialogue. I was excited upon seeing the first scenes in this film because I thought I was in for a good ride but that feeling quickly died down. The plot was almost nonexistent and contains too many goofs and silly moments. The editing department did a horrible job, and so did the sound department. I gave this movie a three because of the three excellent scenes, action and also because of the actors effort to work with a director that did not seem like he knew what he was doing. The movie might be an average watch for viewers who will not pay much attention to the film.
