Witchouse (1999) is an American horror movie that had a gross cover image/photo that gives the impression that this film was going to be a good watch. Director David DeCoteau (Creepozoids (1987), Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge (1991), The Brotherhood (2001), Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988)) should have chose acting or directing. David has several years of experience in the directing field, so I think that him acting in the movie affected him in a negative way as a director for the film. The film contains no suspense (not even a little), no gore, no frightening moments, no thrills and terrible special effects. The actors did not help the film with their poor performances. The worst thing that was done is that money was wasted on this movie that failed big time and someone thought it was necessary to waste more money and make sequels to this film. The sequels better than this movie but I would not recommend anyone to spend their time seeing the sequels or this movie.
Witchouse is about a few teenagers going to a party in a creepy old, deteriorating mansion to have fun, but one of the friends have other intentions for them. Elizabeth (Ashley McKinney Taylor) resurrected the witch. The witch starts to torture the teenagers by killing them or turning them into demons because the teenagers’ ancestor killed the witches. The movie is a cliche to many others, but it did not have enough meat to stand out from the rest. I would have given this movie a zero, but I cannot on our grading scale, so the film got lucky. It was an aimless movie, seeing kids running around with no jump scares or real horror to make you a little terrified at least once.
