Bloodsucking Bastards (2015) is an American comedy horror film that has a run time of 86 minutes. Director Brian James O’Connell (The Girls’ Room (2000), Angry White Man Angry (2011), Model Ball (2008), LA I.C.E (2009)) did a spectacular job bringing us this masterpiece. He has amazing potentials, and it shines in Bloodsucking Bastards that is the third movie he has directed. Bloodsucking Bastards is one of the funniest horror comedy movies that I have seen within the last few months. It is similar to Office Space, but it is jazzed up with vampires. This movie will get horror fans who love comedy laughing on numerous occasions if not through the entire film. Beware weak stomach horror fans for there is buckets of blood/major gore in this vampire comedy.
Evan (Fran Kranz - The Cabin in the Woods (2012), Donnie Darko (2001), Training Day (2001), The Village (2004)) works in an office where he sells as-seen-on-TV items. His girlfriend Amanda (Emma Fitzpatrick - The Social Network (2010), The Collection (2012), In Time (2011), Significant Mother (2014)) told him that she loves him and his answer was “No.” He is having a bad day at work and now also has to fix this relationship before it’s over. Evan is having the worst day possible as he was 100% sure that he will get the sales manager position but it went to Max (Pedro Pascal - The Adjustment Bureau (2011), Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe (2011), Game of Thrones (2011), Sweet Little Lies (2011)) instead. Evan and Max are not best of buds as Evan still holds anger against him for stealing his girlfriend in college. As Evan assumes his day cannot get any worse, he is now faced with his colleagues turning into vampires. Evan and Tim (Joey Kern - Super Troopers (2001), Cabin Fever (2002), Lucky You (2007), Grind (2003)) made weapons of their own to fight off the vampires which led to some hilarious moments.
Bloodsucking Bastards is a movie that you either love it or don’t. The makeup job was nicely done, and the gore factor was not overwhelming. Expect to see decapitations, people/vampires exploding, head stabbing, juggling staplers, and a movie that takes place in one day and one night in an office. All horror fans who loves a good horror comedy is greatly recommended to go out and see this movie.
